Keep in mind nothing says weight loss like long-term behavior changes. The cabbage soup diet, however, can be a quick fix when you want to drop those stubborn pounds. The diet lasts for seven days and may jump-start weight loss endeavors. It's a low-fat, high fiber diet for those who want to see immediate results.
The key to the cabbage soup diet is simple, too. You can eat as much cabbage soup or drink as much water as you'd like, while following the guidelines for other food. Some people find the soup bland and indicated feeling light-headed or weak because of the severe calorie decrease.
For starters, you can eat all of the fruit you want, except bananas. You can drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice and water. You may also eat as much soup as you want. For day two, you can eat as many vegetables (fresh, raw or cooked) as you want except for dry beans, peas and sweet corn. Although you can't eat fruit on day two, you can eat as much soup as you'd like and also have a baked potato with butter for dinner.
As for day three, you may combine days one and two by eating as much fruit, vegetables and soup except your diet today will exclude the baked potato. On day four you can eat up to eight bananas and drink several glasses of skim millk. You can also consume as much soup as you'd like. As for day five, consume 10 to 20 ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomatoes. Alternatively, you may eat broiled fish or broiled or baked skinless chicken. You must drink six to eight glasses of water on day five and eat soup at least once.
On day six you can eat beef and fresh vegetables or salad, however a baked potato is not allowed. Soup must be eaten at least once. O the last day of the cabbage soup diet you can eat as much brown rice as you want along with unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. The cabbage soup must be eaten at least once. Bread, alcohol and carbonated drinks (yes, even diet soda) are forbidden.
Most experts do not recommend crash or fad diets. Healthy weight loss occurs when people lose a pound or two per week. However, there are exceptions to every rule. Check with your doctor before beginning this or any other diet plan.
Cabbage is a good way to add a detox spike to your weight loss plan. But let's face it, it really doesn't look that appetizing!
I second the importance of making the right lifestyle choices and developing a taste for what's natural in life.

A diet like this is good if you want to lose weigh for a particular time period, for example if you have a wedding or event coming up. For long range weight loss I dont think diets are ideal. More a lifestyle adjustment is needed. It doesn't have to be a big life changing thing. I believe in eating smaller portions.
This is an article about what I am talking about its more of a mental approach to weight loss:

I think the cabbage soup diet is okay for a few days but anything longer is just not good for you. This is another good article on it http://www.womenrepublic.co.uk/diet_fitness/dieting/cabbage.htm Like everything else in life, common sense is needed.
